Arizona Skies at the Desert Museum in Tucson

I’m fascinated by contrasts: light and dark, diffuse and focused. These photos of desert plants framed by the gorgeous Arizona sky are a good study in that kind of dichotomy.

I recently read that desert plants in Africa and North America are completely unrelated species, with no genetic link at all….yet they both evolved similar defenses such as thorns, bark with chlorophyll, and roots that secrete poison to keep other plants away from precious groundwater.

Beautiful shots, Deonne. I swear Dr. Seuss got his ideas for his drawings right here in Arizona!

Emilie – Thank you, and yes! Arizona plant life is very Dr. Seussian.

Gorgeous! I was thinking Dr. Seuss, too, but then considering my close companion (little girl) Dr. Seuss often comes to mind.
