White

This week’s theme of “white” for my 365 photo project was fun and relatively easy.

As you can imagine, early January in Taos gave me a lot of options.

Sam snow bowl

Though the water in his bowl has long since frozen and covered over with snow, Sam remained resolute in his thirst-quenching efforts.

Ice star

I was fascinated by the ice patterns on my patio.

candlelight

I realize there’s very little white happening here, but let’s go with it.

Icy tree

The frosted crabapple tree in my courtyard one morning.

Winter rio grande gorge

My backyard National Park, the Rio Grande Gorge.

Winter moonrise over Sangre de Cristos

Full moon rising over the Sangre de Cristos, with bonus ghost moon on the right.

Snowman ornament

A snowman on the Christmas tree at sunset.

What’s the theme for this week? Dark. Not only will it be a good contrast to this week, but I got a new tripod for Christmas and it will give me a chance to get out at night and play with it. It’ll also give me a chance to stop at my favorite bar for a drink afterwards to celebrate my photographic diligence. I can do rationalization with the best.

What’s your favorite of these photos? I’d love it if you’d vote in the comments.

I love the snow and ice shots. Yesterday I would have said because we don’t have much snow but we got some today. I had no idea that you got snow down there – do I say that every year? How do you choose your themes? Are you deciding it or are you following other guidelines? I love the variety in all the photos. Great job!

Manisha – You do say that every year! Taos is at 7,200 feet, so we definitely get snow in the winter. So far I’ve chosen the themes based on getting quiet for a moment and thinking about what I’d like to focus on for the coming week – pure intuition. Thanks so much for following along and commenting, as always.

I love all of them but my favorite is the Moon Rising because blue is one of my favorite colors and it is beautiful. Second choice would be the Gorge. Look forward to the weekly photos and the next theme.

Glad you went with the candle—it felt perfect for the warm spirit in our blessing of white.

Oh, now that’s a hard one, but I think it’s moonrise over the mountains….or is it the gorge…both beautiful. Happy New Year!
