Capturing the Green in Vail

On this last Scamp through Colorado, I was constantly awed by how green everything was.

Green means water, and in Vail, on one hike, it meant a mud bog hidden under a patch of plants that Sam found irresistible. (I lost a bunch of photos in the switch to my new iPhone, but here it is on Instagram, just before Sam was covered in sticky ooze.)

Vail is one of those places that I’ve avoided because it seemed too stuffy, but the reason a lot of people flock to Vail is because it’s ridiculously pretty.

Vail Bridge, Colorado

Even the bridges were green.

Vail mining cabin, Colorado

Well, there wasn’t a lot of green in this one, so I went with sepia. I’m guessing it’s an old mining cabin.

Vail trees, Colorado

A more stylized take on the colors.

Vail storm, Colorado

A storm was rolling in.

P.S. I’m hitting the road this week and heading west, first stop L.A. for another show, then up the coast all the way to Washington. Stay tuned.

Of COURSE you roll through the Bay Area on a weekend when we’re not going to be around. :/

Beautiful pix as always. I like the last one best. It reminds me of that scene in “The Wizard of Oz” when Dorothy opens the door and it goes from B&W to color.

Deborah – Timing, grr. Thanks for the kind words – that last photo is my favorite, too. Great point about the Wizard of Oz! (One of my very favorite movies.)

  2. Wow, I feel like I can smell the grass and the coming rain in that last one.

Have fun! Did I tell you I was eyeing a scamp? It is a little out of my comfort range so I might just make the low offer that i can afford and wait to see what happens. Will keep you posted!
