Green and Blue Heaven in the Cascades

My favorite color combination – what, you don’t have one? – is green and blue. I realized this when I looked around my house the other day and saw those colors featured in almost every room.

Lucky for me the National Parks, and nature in general, favor that combo, too. It was never more evident to me than at Cascades National Park in Washington.

Cascades has so many gorgeous vistas I barely put my camera down, and was constantly stopping at the side of the road, jumping out, and trying to capture all the gorgeousness.

For my fellow lake-lovers (look at me, the recent convert!), Cascades is a treasure trove of clean, clear water. I’m going to share a bunch of photos, because I couldn’t decide on my favorites. (This is not Sophie’s Choice, people.)

Now we’re talking.

Yeah, baby.

I know, right?

Even the close-ups are pretty.

I took about a billion photos of this bridge, but won’t share them all here. You’re welcome.

I love the color of the cabin as contrast.

Sam and I scrambled down a little hill and found this sweet lake.

The reflections were ridiculous that day.

Even the trees are interesting. This one reminded me of a bearded old man.

So much variation in such a small space.

Next up: Olympic National Park.

Thanks, Beth! Glad you love it too. (And these weren’t even taken with the new camera!)

I love it all especially the contrast cabin! You’ve given me a new appreciation for that color combination. my favorites are brown and blue – earth and sky. I tend to wear those colors together a lot. In beautiful place and in beautiful seasons (fall) I tend to like all the colors. Great job, Deonne. Did you mention that you had a new camera?

Manisha – I also love brown and blue together, that’s the color scheme of the one room in the house that isn’t blue and green. How funny. I did get a new camera! These photos, and the rest from this big Scamp, were made with the old camera. I’m heading out in December with the new one (a Pentax 645Z), and can’t wait to see what I come back with.

You bought a Pentax! Awesome. I’ve been a Pentax girl all my life, each and every camera. I was thinking about trying another brand but it is so handy being able to use the lenses I already have. I can’t wait to see if the photos with the new camera are as great as the ones you have already taken.

Manisha – I’m loving the Pentax, and the only issue is how heavy it is. I’ll go Scamping in December with the new camera, and I’ll share those here. I hope you’ll see a difference!

Tough choice, but I think the top photo is my favorite of this set. These are all just amazing.

Okay now I have yet ANOTHER place to put on my go see list! Darn you!!! LOL These are gorgeous and I love love that you had just the right amount of clouds for interest in most of them. All of them are a favorite and hey – go ahead and post bazillions – we’d look at them! πŸ™‚

Sherry – It’s my job to inspire everyone I can to get out there and experience these beautiful places, so I’ll consider my work done for the day. πŸ™‚ Thanks, as always, for the kind words.
