Because I’m impetuous and restless and have the luxury of being self-employed, I’m hitting the road today. (My mother once said, in response to my momentary musing about getting a proper day job: “You’d never last. You’d be the crabby office worker who always had her door closed.” My mother is a wise woman.)
Here’s where I’m going:
I’m embarrassed to admit there are eight (eight!) National Parks in New Mexico I’ve never seen. Something about the cobbler’s kids having worn-out shoes, I don’t know. Anyway, today I’m heading for Capulin Volcano National Monument, near Raton, and will wind my way around, ending up at El Malpais National Monument. As always, I’m hoping for great photos, interesting stories, and minimal mishaps. Wish me luck.
I’ll post here and on Facebook and Instagram, as always. Stop by and say hello.

Have fun! I like how you are focusing on one state. Sounds like a great plan!
Manisha recently posted…adult night
Manisha – I like the idea of knocking off a state at a time, too. I did it in Hawaii and Tennessee (how’s that for diversity? ha) and would like to do it more often going forward.
You weren’t crabby when I worked with you in that office back in the ’80s. Of course, being at the bottom of the totem pole, we didn’t HAVE doors to close ….
Deborah – Ha! Yes, I couldn’t close a door because I didn’t have one. And it would have been bad form to close all the lawyer’s doors, ha.
It looks like my kind of trip! I hope you have great weather and the time of your life.
Martha/Gypsy – Yes! I’ll keep you posted along the way with how it’s going.
I just returned from my first ever trip to NM. (see my blog) If you haven’t been to Tent Rocks do go – it was amazing and I missed white sands. Can’t wait to see what you see while there. I really loved it.
Sherry – I’m going to Tent Rocks tomorrow! I can’t wait, I’ve never been, and I’ll share photos here. Nice to know we’re overlapping on our travels, and I’m so glad you enjoyed NM. It’s a special place.
