Validation and a Really Nice Belt

The magazine came out, so now I can say which contest I placed in (the one I mentioned last week).

It’s the AAA Big Shots contest, and I’m proud to have taken third since the other winning images are spectacular. You can see them all here.

The prize was a beautiful handmade belt by John Rippel, and in my world you can never have too many accessories so I’m pretty psyched about it. Here’s that photo:

Looking Out

It’s the first contest I’ve entered, and placing feels like validation that I’m on the right track with the photography. (And it’s got me even more motivated to get that New Mexico book out this year.) Life is good, and I hope you’re feeling the same these days. Now if we could only get spring to show up…

Congratulations! I don’t agree with the second-prize winner, for the record. I wouldn’t have even placed that one as a finalist. I liked all the other ones, though. And it’s cool that yours was the only black-and-white one! πŸ˜€ I love keyhole shots. Do we get to see a picture of the belt when you get it? (ON you, of course. haha) Way to go!

Indeed that is a super shot and in black and white no less (which you have a great talent for). So happy for you and can’t wait to see the belt! LOL

Sherry – Thank you for the kind words. Interesting that a style/skill/talent emerges over time, which is a good reminder that practice works, ha.
