Taos Snowpocalypse

I thought I’d give you a break from National Parks (but who ever needs one? Not me!) and share a few photos from the recent snowpocalypse in Taos.

I’ve lived here ten years and have never seen this much snow for this many days in a row. It was awesome and then… it wasn’t. A person can only do so much looking out the window and muttering “wow, that’s a lot of snow” to her dog before she and said dog feel like they’re going to jump out of their skins if they don’t leave the house.

So we did. Briefly.

Taos Winter in Snow

Note the watchdog in the middle distance. We’d parked at the head of this private road, and Pup seemed unhappy about it.

Taos Winter in Snow

Here Pup is, getting closer. He/she took off running at me just after I took this shot. I retreated back to the car and Pup came up, tail wagging and friendly.

Taos Church in Snow

The church nearby.

The sky said the storm wasn’t over yet, so I said goodbye to my new pooch friend and headed home.

It looks colder there than Milwaukee and South Dakota did last week! Beautiful though.

Martha – It was cold, and there was SO MUCH SNOW. Ha. Thanks for commenting!

Great perspective and looks cold as all get out! Fabulous title!!!

Thanks, Susan! I now wish I would have gotten out into it more with the camera, but I can’t say I’m not enjoying this beautiful – and dry – early spring weather.

Has your snow melted yet? Believe me, I totally know how you feel. It’s pretty at first, and then it’s like, “ok, I’m done with you now, snow…run along.” It is finally melting here in Boston and I think we may get rain tomorrow, which should help.

I love the photos – very different landscape than on the east coast, for sure.

Terri – Yes, the snow is almost gone. I’m definitely ready for shorts and flip-flops, but may have to wait a bit longer for that. πŸ™‚

What beautiful photos! I think I am enjoying the contrast with b/with better than color!

    • deonne at 7:29 am #

Brad – Thank you! I’m into B&W these days for the same reason. And no problem about the spelling. : )

    B/with should have been b/w.
    Rotten spell checker!

Oooo love that last shot. I think you had more snow there than we had all winter. πŸ™ Glad you got out to share the views though.

Sherry – Thank you! I’m hoping this is the end of the drought here. I don’t even care about the mud, ha.

Yep, same situation in MN in that you have more snow than we’ve had all winter. Now the small amount is all gone. Similar to how I feel about the East Coast, I’m feeling tons of envy about the snow even now when ours is gone. BUT, Wisconsin still has a bit so I’m getting my fill over the border. I love all forms of precipitation: snow, rain, tears. Beautiful photos, Deonne. Snowy landscapes are perfect for B&W photos but you take the photos to another amazing level.

Manisha – Yes, precipitation is good! Thank you for the kind words about the photos. I’m really enjoying working in black and white.
