Big Changes on the Way

Today I’m posting another of approximately five jillion possible Ireland photos, this one of the beautiful town of Limerick.

But I also wanted to say you’ll start seeing major changes on the site, because I’m shifting my focus from professional photography to something new.

I’ll still post photos and stories from my travels – my wanderlust isn’t changing, no way, no how – but the primary focus of the site will expand on a column I wrote a little over a year ago that sparked a shift in the way I think about my life and how I want to serve others.

(Amusing sidenote: In the post I say I had planned to create this new website a year ago January! Oh, Deonne. Your optimism is adorable.)

In the interest of getting moving on this huge project, I’m going to buck my perfectionist tendencies and do as my wise friend, Susan, advised: just START. Her all-caps are totally justified. πŸ™‚

With that said, I realize I may lose some of you as the content changes, and that’s okay – no hard feelings, I promise. I am going to try to segment my email list, so for those of you who still want to know when I post photos, there may be a way to do that so you’re not getting the other content as well. Like everything right now, it’s a work in progress.

In terms of what I’ll start writing about, some of you may remember my blog, Life on the High Wire, where we talked about issues in the personal development realm, and how to live a more satisfying, meaningful life.

I’m getting back to that.

Honestly, I thought I’d be able to build a business around my photography, but that’s proved much tougher than expected, despite winning accolades and awards.

So I’m refocusing on my other loves – writing and teaching. Yay! As a serial entrepreneur, I’m excited to build this new business and learn how to create online courses, write and publish ebooks, explore new ways of marketing, and create more robust email content. (I know, I’m insane. Ha.)

Please bear with me as I redo the look and feel of the site – it’s going to get messy. Mistakes will be made, so feel free to avert your eyes when they do. πŸ™‚

And, finally, for reading all that, here’s your reward: glorious Ireland at her moody best.

The River Shannon running through Limerick. Does anyone else do an Irish accent when reading Irish place names in their head? Is it just me?

I’m so glad, Susan! And you’re allowed to use all-caps with me, too, since I apparently need to see them. πŸ™‚

Your year was just that time needed to REALLY ponder and absorb what you want to accomplish. I didn’t realize your desire to teach and of course I LOVE that you are doing some life coach type stuff as well as continuing with photography as something fun. IMHO your photography will fit nicely with the “looking at things differently” portion of your new adventure. You won’t lose me! LOL I’ll be stalking you forever! haha

I was just wondering the other day why I hadn’t seen anything from you for so long. Enjoyed your photos of Ireland—a country to which I have been twice and want to return. I wish you all the best in your new venture. Keep following your dreams, even though there may be twists and turns in the road.

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words, Barbara!

I *never* avert my eyes from mistakes; other people’s mistakes make me feel so much better about my own πŸ˜‰

Seriously, though, I’m so excited for you and to see the changes in all their messy glory!

By the way, the answer to your question is no; I can’t do an Irish accent to save my life, even in my head.

    • deonne at 11:48 am #

Thank you, my wise friend Susan! πŸ™‚ It’s time, mistakes and mess and all of it. And maybe it’s because I’ve been to Ireland twice that I soaked up the accent along with the Guinness. Ha.

Loved the high wire!!! So happy it will be back. Yes, I use an Irish accent too. Ha ha. Congratulations on your new/ old/ authentic direction, my beautiful, talented friend!

    • deonne at 12:08 pm #

Yay! Thanks so much for the kind words, Stef, and the Irish accent confession. πŸ™‚

      • Susi at 12:12 pm #

Oh, I’m with you whatever you do, Deonne!
