Not the Best Kiss I’ve Had, But Pretty Great Regardless

And not that I need help with the gift of gab, but I got a booster when I kissed the Blarney Stone.

I had the privilege when we visited Blarney Castle in County Cork, which was built about 600 years ago.

Blarney Castle from below.

Blarney Castle window

Blarney Castle was one of the busiest sites we visited so there was a big line, but folks were quite orderly about it.

I was obsessed with those deep, wonderful windows.

And all that texture!

And green! Moss or mold, I don’t care. It was beautiful.

Kissing the blarney stone

See the guy in the middle crouching down? He’s preparing to kiss the Blarney Stone. A guide helps you lie on your back, tip your head back, then stretch out to kiss the stone that’s in the battlements. Upside down. Then you’re snatched up and sent to the exit line. Bam!

Two people obviously inspired by all the stone kissing, and one fascinating tree.

Not Blarney Castle, just a gorgeous structure you can see from the top.

I had no idea people had to lie down to kiss the Blarney Stone! I think I would pass.
I loved those deep windows. The wall must be around three feet thick! And that wonderful tree. Wow!

Emilie – Yes about the windows and the tree! Kissing the stone was actually the least interesting thing about the visit.

The tree is super cool and I too love the green and thr colored window. Almost looks like a quilt.

Sherry – It does look like a quilt! It’s the only window I saw like that. Pretty.

I expected a stone on a wall someplace, not where it was. The view from the top was magnificent and those deep windows. You are the best travel companion. Thanks for going with me. Mom

Janet/Mom – It was different than I expected, too. It’s always my pleasure to travel with you! Truly.
