Angel from Montgomery

I was in the car the other day trying to decide what song to share with you, and I thought of one of my favorites, the John Prine classic, “Angel from Montgomery.”

Then right that moment Bonnie Raitt’s gorgeous version of the song came on the radio. Thanks for the feedback, Universe!

I can’t remotely match Raitt’s performance, so this will have to do. This is the third take, and I’m sharing it because it was the first without any major mistakes. You’re welcome. πŸ™‚

Deep breath, Kahler! Here we go:

That’s so nice, Sherry! I may need to start learning a second song. πŸ™‚

I’ve never heard that song before! You did a nice job with it. (Is there no bridge, or did I just miss it?) My favorite line:

How the hell can a person go to work in the morning
And come home in the evening and have nothing to say

I think John Prine never had an office job!!!

Deborah – I’m so glad I could introduce you to it! It’s a beauty. No bridge, just verse and chorus. That’s my favorite line too, and your line about Prine made me laugh. πŸ™‚

Lauren, I love this profanely enthusiastic comment! πŸ˜‰ Seriously, thank you so much for the kind words and yes, I’m super excited to see you after all this time in CA. Much love to you.

Beautiful bluesy voice, you never smiled until the end, John sings a lot of songs with girls names in the title. I wanted to see a little more smile with I had me a cowboy a long time ago. That was a lift out of the blues, and then right back into the blues.

Rob, thank you for the kind words. I’ll work on smiling more in the next one, just for you. πŸ™‚
