My friend Susan picks a word to use as a touchstone for the year, and I liked the idea so much I’m giving it a shot for 2015. My word is emergence.

I’ve had a good run with my work this year, and it feels like I’m on the cusp of a big leap forward. I got a second solid draft of the novel done, opened an online gallery, had two photos in my first group show, and just found out I placed in a photography contest, another first. Plus I just started a show on KNCE 93.5 called Art Life Radio, where I talk to Taos creatives and spin tunes that have inspired their work.

New beginnings and lots of activity.

Winter Solstice was Sunday and normally I don’t pay much attention, but this year it seemed important. This was the sunset, and it illustrated my chosen word beautifully.

Winter Solstice Sunset

Last light before the longest night of the year.

I hope you’re enjoying the changing of the seasons, and anticipating good things in 2015. I’m so grateful we’re sharing the ride together.

P.S. I met up in Taos with blog reader Glenda and her husband Jeff, two lovely people. They’re full-time RVers in a 17′ Casita, (a cousin to the Scamp), so check out their blog for tips and stories about life on the road. And if any of you are ever passing through Taos, please let me know! I love to put faces to the names.
