I’m posting about this epic Scamp all out of order, so forgive me. I seem to be randomly inspired these days, but maybe a month on the road will do that to you.

I’ve gone from all fire and smoke all the time, to rain and snow (!) and pervasive dampness, with towels and jackets that never want to dry out. But it’s a gorgeous Scamp and I’m not complaining. (Well, maybe a little about the dampness.)

Sam and I just left the Columbia River Gorge on the northern border of Oregon, and I wanted to share some photos.

Here’s what all that rain does for a forest. Green and green.

Horsetail Falls Creek

We hiked from our campsite (Ainsworth State Park – highly recommended) to Horsetail Falls, and this is the creek that runs from it.

Here’s the foot of the falls.

Sam at Horsetail Falls, Oregon

I tried to convince Sam how beautiful it was, but he couldn’t get past the loud noise.

We’re on our way to the Cascades, and then Olympic National Park, because it’s a little over a week until my first ever solo backpacking trip. I’m a bit nervous, but am about as prepared as I can be. (She says, just before something happens that warrants another “mishap” tagged blog post. Ha ha!)
