Or at least three.
We saw them in both the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, and hippos are quite a bit more expressive than I thought.
There’s this:

“I’m big, I’m beautiful, don’t mess with me.”

“I’m big, I’m sleepy, stay over there.”
And this might be my favorite: polite hippo.

“Oh, hello! I didn’t see you there. Pardon me as I pass to join my friends who are cooling off nearby.”
That’s a glorious golden crowned crane, which I was grateful to catch mid-startle. More Tanzania images next week, so I’ll see you then.
