Rifting

To “form fissures, cracks, or breaks, especially through large-scale faulting.”

Large-scale faulting. Yes. We’re in it, and even for as painful, as heartbreaking as it is, something new will be born. Maybe a path for a mighty river.

I find myself falling to despair, but then I remember: every ending, every death leads to a new beginning and a rebirth. Stay strong, everyone. We’re in this together.

First, the photo of the Gorge is beautiful. And didn’t know what Rifting meant. Yes, just need to hang in there because I also think there will be a new beginning. Going to take strong people and time. Love you.

Mom, thank you! I’m actually not sure rifting is a real word, but it can be a verb so I tacked on the -ing. 🙂 We do need to hang in there, and I’m just grateful for strong people like you who are willing to do the work that will need doing. Love you.

Didn’t know the word rifting and I’m glad you introduced it to me. Powerful photo that is very relatable to feelings we often struggle to avoid but which as you point out don’t have to be feared and can actually be embraced. Interestingly your use of religious constructs to describe what this picture evokes.

Jim, I’m not sure the word rifting is a real one, but rift can be a verb, so I tacked on the -ing. It’s so hard to embrace such massive endings and beginnings, but there’s no other choice. I see so many people digging in their heels and screaming about how they want everything to stay the same (or even revert back to some mythical “happier” time), but that’s pointless. Change is the constant, and we either learn how we fit into the new world, or we wither and die. I’m just grateful we’re not going through it alone. Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

Always sucks to be pulled into the rift….crawling out can just be horrid but YOU can climb out and WILL. All we can do is provide the support for you to do it and we are here for ya! You know we’d gladly do the work for you if we could but the Universe just doesn’t want to work that way.

What a wonderful comment, Sherry, thank you. Your support and friendship mean so much. <3
