Or, a meditation on green.
I’ve been going through photos for the book, and discovered the photos I made about a year ago when I was in New Orleans in April.
I took a tour on a small boat in the Honey Island Swamp, and was immediately enraptured with all the green and the dappled light on the water. (Plus, the name! Perfect.)
Here’s your own personal tour.

It is calming and I need to be reminded to think of all the beauty in the world. Can be overlook with all the ugliness going on. Love you and thank you for sharing all our beautiful photos.
I need that reminder too! I was so happy to revisit this beautiful place and share the photos with you all. Love you.
So beautiful! And I can see why it’s called ‘honey’ because light spilling on the water looks like pools of honey.
By the way, tried to sign up for your blog. I filled out the little form but it never seemed to do anything.

Emilie, thank you! Yes, the “honey” is perfect. Looks like you got the signup sorted, but do let me know if you have any other issues. It feels good to create, especially in troubled times. I’m sure you feel the same.
Great greenery for sure! Was it buggy? I have always thought it would be fun to go with a guide and kayak around some of the swamps and mangroves.
Sherry – It wasn’t buggy, though we did see an alligator, so you’d definitely want to take a guide if you were kayaking.
I like the third picture the best with all the reflection!
Deborah – Yes! That’s a good one, and I especially I love all that creamy light in the foreground. Thanks for the comment.
