The Del Mar Fair in San Diego is a fun annual tradition I hadn’t experienced in a long time. And by long time, I mean the last time I did there was some ’80s hair band playing the Saturday night main stage and no one even thought it was ironic.

Sam and Jack Take Dog Beach in Coronado
Sam had never seen the ocean, and since we’re hanging out in San Diego, it was time. I was waiting for a friend to get out of a meeting in Coronado so I took Sam and his dog, Jack, down the road past the Hotel Del, all the way to the end, where there’s a popular dog beach.
When Flora Get Competitive
I didn’t get much time to take photos in San Diego this weekend because my mother is so damn popular. If I hadn’t been with her I would have had far fewer social engagements, and could have spent more time with the camera.

Tripping Down Memory Lane
I spent junior high and high school in Point Loma, an upper-middle-class suburb of San Diego that sits between Shelter Island and Ocean Beach. Some of my friends’ parents had sailboats, and most of my friends got cars for their 16th birthdays. (I didn’t, and to this day I’m glad because I surely would have been arrested for drunk driving or worse.)
